The Role: Start Out Volunteer
Our "Start Out Volunteer" program is designed for those who wish to provide short-term support with everyday tasks outside the home, helping individuals become more independent and engaged with the community. This role is ideal for first-time volunteers or those who cannot commit to long-term volunteering.
What Does a Start Out Volunteer Do?
Start Out volunteers assist with a variety of tasks, including:
- Supporting access to community activities
- Acting as a buddy on wellbeing walks
- Providing transport companionship
- Writing postcards of cheer
- Helping in the Community Garden
- Shopping for those unable to do so
- Assisting with Live Well in Braunton’s community events
These tasks are time-limited and focused on providing practical support outside the home environment.
Who Can Volunteer?
We welcome volunteers over 18 who have:
- A passion for helping people
- The ability to act with compassion and impartiality
- An understanding of the importance of maintaining boundaries and supporting our policies
Support and Training
Our Volunteer Coordinator, Janine will be your key contact, providing guidance and support. You will receive an induction and specialised training to help you feel confident and prepared for your role.
